How to Qualify to TX Daycare Assistance in Harris County & Galveston County

We’re often asked how parents can qualify for TX daycare assistance or Texas state financial aid for daycare or childcare? As one of its many employment services, Texas Workforce Solutions provides financial aid for childcare in the 13-county Gulf Coast area, which includes Harris County and Galveston County. Funds to pay for this assistance are sometimes limited, so families who apply might be put on a waiting list for a period of time. To contact Workforce Solutions, you should call 1-888-469-5627 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Texas Workforce Solutions can approve you for financial aid, but they have criteria that have to be met.  There are three main requirements:

1. Do you live in one of the following thirteen counties?
Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Walker, Waller, Wharton

2. Do you a) work at least 25 hours per week; b) go to school full-time; or c) work and go to school combined for at least 25 hours per week?

3. Do you meet Workforce Solutions family income guidelines?

If you’re interested in learning if you qualify for TX daycare assistance, please call 1-888-469-5627 and explain your situation.  If you meet those criteria listed above, then it’s a matter of filling out the paperwork, and then once you are approved, you can tell Texas Workforce Solutions that you want to use your workforce certificate for childcare at Gimmie A Break.  Texas Workforce Solutions will call us and ask if we have room for your child, and if we have room, then you are automatically enrolled. It’s that simple.

Gimmie A Break has been serving children and families in Webster, Friendswood, League City, Clear Lake, and Houston with quality late-night childcare and preschool services for more than 25 years.  Please call us at 281-554-5000 if you’re interested in our childcare or preschool programs!
